A Snapshot of Your Day
As the leader of the Hydrogen Power Unit (HPU) department in our Newcastle service facility, you will be responsible for managing the operational performance of the area while fostering a strong Zero Harm safety and quality culture. Your day will involve working closely with supervisors, engineering teams, and key stakeholders such as Geopura to ensure the successful production and development of Hydrogen Power Units and future product lines. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, balancing operational delivery with longer-term strategic development of the department’s skills, infrastructure, and capabilities. How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Lead the operational performance of the Hydrogen Power Unit department, ensuring delivery across safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
2. Manage day-to-day manufacturing and service operations within a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary environment.
3. Drive continuous improvement in departmental processes, standards, and working practices.
4. Provide leadership and line management to supervisors and craft teams, supporting performance, development, and engagement.
5. Work closely with internal teams and external partners such as Geopura to introduce new products and support future business growth.
6. Manage departmental budgets, workload planning, and CAPEX investment activities in line with the annual financial plan.
7. Promote and maintain a strong Zero Harm safety culture across all operational activities.
8. Contribute to wider facility management discussions, operational reviews, and strategic planning.
9. Support customer engagement activities including facility tours and stakeholder interactions where required.
What You Bring
10. Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
11. Proven experience leading operations within an energy, manufacturing, or power generation environment.
12. Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
13. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams within a production or service environment.
14. Experience driving operational improvements across safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
15. Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
16. A proactive leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
17. Willingness to travel occasionally both nationally and internationally.
