 
        
        Overview:
We are seeking an experienced engineer with a background in Protection and Control Design to join a growing power engineering team. This position involves working on high-voltage infrastructure and renewable energy projects across the transmission and distribution sectors. The role can be based at a regional office, remotely, or in a hybrid arrangement, and may include periodic travel for project meetings and site activities across the country.
Main Responsibilities:
 * Lead and execute detailed design and engineering work for protection and control systems within power networks and renewable generation projects.
 * Prepare technical documentation, including protection schematics, single-line diagrams, specifications, and data sheets for systems typically operating between 33kV and 400kV.
 * Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and project partners to ensure project objectives are met.
 * Support continuous improvement across engineering processes by identifying areas for enhancement and sharing feedback with the wider team.
 * Work closely with grid operators, utilities, and technical leads to deliver compliant and cost-effective solutions.
 * Maintain productive working relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
 * Manage assigned projects from concept through to completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and technical standards are achieved.
 * Produce high-quality technical reports and present findings clearly to clients and peers.
 * Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and knowledge transfer to support professional growth.
 * Plan, coordinate, and review engineering work to achieve deliverables related to quality, progress, and compliance.
 * Interpret client requirements to deliver technically robust design solutions.
 * Ensure familiarity with relevant UK, European, and international standards, codes of practice, and safety regulations.
 * Follow all internal engineering procedures and maintain professional development in line with industry expectations.
Qualifications and Experience:
 * Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent).
 * Working toward or holding professional registration (e.g., Chartered status).
 * At least five years’ experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on protection and control system design.
 * Practical understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements and compliance with design risk assessment obligations.
 * Demonstrated ability to develop protection schemes and justify engineering decisions through sound technical reasoning.
