To ensure that IFF Wellingborough and other UK Non-op sites continuously meet environmental, health, and safety standards and requirements, within legal and company rules and regulations, in such a way that the necessary certificates and permits are available at all times and physical risks are minimized at a competitive cost and perform studies to continuously improve processes.
This position reports for EHS matters relating to Wellingborough & Non-op sites to the UK Facility Manager. Works closely with the Safety coordinators of the Nourish and Scent BU’s. This position also holds functional reporting lines with the Regional EHS &S manager and to Corporate EHS.
The position may require contact with external authorities, fire departments, and environmental agencies, as well as internal communication with all IFF departments.
Main Responsibilities
1. Ensure environmental and safety programs are drawn up periodically, in accordance with legal and company policies and regulations, including resource requirements and costs.
2. Ensure all permits required by law are acquired and kept up-to-date to support ongoing operations and risk reduction.
3. Maintain operational, environmental, and safety systems to meet governmental, IFF, and insurance requirements, with effective emergency plans to minimize risks.
4. Manage ER organization and trainings, providing support based on the annual EHS training program to implement applicable policies.
5. Perform risk assessments, especially in laboratory environments, ensuring compliance with COSHH requirements.
6. Investigate incidents and accidents, advising on improvements to reduce risks, and stay updated on EHS developments.
7. Act as a center of expertise for EHS matters, advising relevant parties on organizational impacts.
8. Support EHS affairs, including sustainability initiatives, and maintain auditing and reporting programs for sites.
9. Support day-to-day safety checks, including Legionella, Fire Risk, PPM monitoring, and First Aid support.
Requirements
1. Experience in safety, health, and environmental issues and regulations at a mid to bachelor level (MVK).
2. Good understanding of creative processes.
3. Strong organizational, human relations, and communication skills for awareness and correction of situations.
4. Experience in safety, health, and environmental issues and regulations.
5. Preferred experience within a lab environment with IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
