Lancaster Arts is looking for a Curator to be at the centre of our artistic programme. The role requires a highly committed individual to develop collaborative practices and new partnerships that build on our working values and support new artistic practices.
Job Description
The Curator works closely with the Director to realise our potential as a combined arts National Portfolio Organisation, situated within a leading university committed to interdisciplinary practice and civic engagement. The contemporary arts programme integrates a presentational programme with commissions and arts sector development, working within annual themes. The Curator is responsible for the visual arts programme across the Peter Scott Gallery, campus sites, the city of Lancaster and Morecambe, and regional, national, and international partners. This role oversees the care and maintenance of the University Art Collection, ensuring its sustainability and capability to flourish.
Job Responsibilities
* Oversee visual arts programme across multiple venues and partners.
* Manage the University Art Collection’s care and maintenance.
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with artists, producers, and partner organisations.
* Foster new relationships with the university community and regional communities.
* Support artists exploring new directions for their work and facilitate cutting‑edge arts practice.
Job Requirements
* High degree of relational skills for working with a broad and diverse range of people.
* Track record for maintaining ongoing relationships with artists and producers over time.
