This role has a Market Pay Supplement of up to �10,000
The internal roles rules apply to existing Civil Servants, level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.

Job description
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Enterprise Architect who combines a deep understanding of technology with a passion for innovation in public health.
Your role will be pivotal in steering key technology initiatives that underpin emerging policy objectives and future health innovations.� You will be responsible for guiding delivery teams to meet strategic outcomes through the adoption of innovative solutions that align with our technical strategy and architecture vision.
Overview of Job
The successful candidate will respond and inform the rapidly changing and complex architectural needs of the UKHSA, providing shape and definition delivery. It is crucial that the Enterprise Architect can work with a variety of stakeholders and business analysts to uncover and succinctly document the architectural needs of the UKHSA, satisfying the current data platform requirements whilst helping to define the architectural vision for the future. The Enterprise Architect should be able to flex according to the transition stage of the organisation whereby our platforms, processes and ways of working are evolving, ensuring all architectural governance concerns are maintained throughout.
The Senior Enterprise Architect will be a collaborative force within the UKHSA, working in partnership with Business, DevOps teams and domain Architects to advance projects that reflect and fulfil the enterprise vision.� This role encompasses a broader scope of strategic activities, The Senior Enterprise Architect will offer project consultancy, shape governance activities, and capture best practices, patterns, guidance, and principles.� This position plays a critical role in supporting major change programs, ensuring that each initiative aligns with our overarching enterprise architecture and strategic objectives.
The Senior Enterprise Architect contribute to the evolution of a strategic framework that evolves from the existing technological and business advancements within the organization. The framework will encompass clear guiderails for future enhancements or additions with in-built flexibility to adapt to changing business needs. The development of architectural standards will enable more informed decision making and agile responses.
�We are looking for Senior Enterprise Architects to sit within the following channels:
1. Cloud Platform (knowledge of AWS or Azure),
2. Application rationalisation,
3. Integration patterns, or
4. Technology transformation.

Main Duties of the Job
5. Strategic thinking: You will play a pivotal role in the development and execution of a comprehensive technology architecture strategy, guiding the creation and assessment of policies, roadmaps, and frameworks across various domains to assure alignment with overarching business objectives and requirements.
6. EA governance: You will facilitate a robust enterprise architecture governance framework that ensures technology projects and initiatives are evaluated and aligned with the strategic objectives, providing oversight and direction to ensure compliance, consistency, and integration across the organization.
7. Enterprise Architecture standards: You will develop and set architectural standards for the organisation, including tooling strategies and architectural guardrails. You will champion and communicate the business benefit those standards across the organisation including identifying overlaps, aligning resources with strategic objectives, and ensuring a cohesive and economically sustainable product ecosystem that meets both current and future business demands.

8. Scientific Integration: Champion the development and integration of enterprise architecture solutions with laboratory and scientific environments, ensuring that systems and processes are optimally designed to support the critical work of researchers and public health scientists, facilitating advanced data analysis, research collaboration, and innovation in health security technologies.

9. EA Modelling: Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of enterprise architecture models that accurately represent the UKHSA�s business, information, application, and technology architectures.

10. Business Architecture: The candidate must possess expertise in Business Architecture, encapsulating the design of organisational structure, operational processes, and technology frameworks. The candidate should be capable of aligning every facet of the organization with its mission and objectives. The candidate will be responsible to ensure that the organisation's vision seamlessly connect with its concrete business operations and ensuring the business capabilities are aligned to technical capabilities.

Person specification
Essential Criteria:
11. A hands-on track record in providing pragmatic architectural leadership and experience in developing and defining IT Strategy and Architecture, with this being successfully embedded into the enterprise
12. A good communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and with the ability to work with architects from other disciplines and integrate their work to provide a joined-up picture of data across the enterprise
13. Practical examples where you have you addressed complex architecture issues that need �EA style� thinking, for example, optimisation of cloud and examples of how you have applied the proportionate use of architectural assets and shown impact across the enterprise
14. Certified in an architecture design methodology, for example TOGAF, Zachman.
15. Hands-on experience with conducting architectural assessments and creating roadmaps, including technology debt assessments, cloud transition approaches, patterns for introduction of disruptive technologies into legacy estates and architectural governance
16. Ability to deliver strategic thinking to stakeholders through roadmaps, mentoring and architectural thought leadership
17. Ability to lead interviews and workshops to find a navigable architecture path with stakeholders that may have differing viewpoints, such as product design, architecture, DevOps and service management
18. Hands-on experience in the delivery of emerging technologies and architectural trends, including:
19. Delivery of platforms and the transition roadmaps to platform-based approaches
20. Digital transformation enablement, by effectively bringing business, data and technology architecture viewpoints together
21. Knowledge of Service Now would be advantageous.
