The Opportunity
We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join a leading-edge materials testing facility in Derby. This role is focused on the metallurgical preparation and inspection of high-performance nickel-based turbine blades used in the aerospace industry.
This is a unique chance to work on critical aerospace components. We are looking for either someone with prior metallurgy experience OR an individual who is exceptionally good with their hands and looking to be trained in a technical trade.
The Role
You will be working in a precision lab environment, preparing metal samples for microscopic inspection to ensure they meet the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sample Preparation: Cutting, mounting, and grinding/polishing metal alloy samples to a specific finish.
2. Microscopic Inspection: Assisting in the visual inspection of grain structures and surface integrity.
3. Precision Work: Using manual hand tools and specialized lab machinery for delicate component prep.
