Join Environment Agency as a Technical Advisor in the Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS). You will manage and support essential environmental monitoring systems and datasets, helping users analyze and improve data that underpin our work.

The MDS team maintains vital monitoring systems for water quality, fish, biology, ecology and water quantity. In this multi‑purpose role you will:
* Set up and manage user accounts.
* Support users and resolve issues, especially during the transition to Our new My Environment application.
* Update, improve and maintain datasets.
* Respond to internal and external data requests.
* Support system improvement and upgrade projects.
Everyone joining us must undertake training and participate in incident response duties as required. This is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and plays a key role in safeguarding communities and the environment.

Experience & Skills Required
• Experience working with large, complex datasets.
• Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply these across monitoring data and systems.
• Motivated, organised, friendly and helpful with an eye for detail, comfortable working in a dispersed team environment.
• Proactive and problem‑solving orientation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service.
Desirable Experience & Skills
• Experience managing environmental monitoring data systems.
• Familiarity with PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and R.
• Working knowledge of water quality monitoring.
Contact & Additional Information
Work location is flexible, but you must have a base at one of our offices across England and maintain a presence there. Hybrid home/office working is provided, with some travel expected for meetings.
Interviews are anticipated via MS Teams towards the end of December/ beginning of January; dates will be confirmed for invited candidates.
An apprenticeship is available for the successful candidate.
