An exciting and highly rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Family Engagement Partner to join Mencap on a fixed-term contract, leading a Family Engagement Team across Bradford and Tameside.


About the role

As a Family Engagement Partner you’ll lead Mencap’s work with families of children with SEND, ensuring delivery is high quality and aligned with agreed KPIs and outcomes. You will manage and support the Family Engagement Team whilst collaborating with local services to facilitate peer support and co-produced opportunities with and for families.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) fixed term contract for 18 months. Whilst this post is flexible from where you can work, we will require the successful applicant to occasionally travel to site in Bradford and Tameside to meet with the project team and senior stakeholders.

Do you have the passion and experience to make a difference as a Family Engagement Partner? We’re looking for someone who can bring the following strengths to our team:

* Proven experience supporting families of children and young people with SEND.
* A collaborative, solution-focused mindset, particularly when working in partnership with others.
* A strong commitment to inclusive practice and co-production, especially with people who have a learning disability.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver projects or initiatives that respond to community voices and local needs.
* Highly adaptable, self-motivated, and confident in evaluating and reporting on impact.
* Good knowledge of the SEND landscape, with a genuine connection to the local area—bringing both insight and drive to create meaningful, lasting change.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead Mencap’s engagement with families of children with SEND, ensuring delivery is of a consistently high standard and aligned with agreed KPIs and outcomes.
* Manage and support the Family Engagement Team, fostering peer support and co-producing meaningful opportunities with and for families.
* Work collaboratively with local services, partners, and community organisations to strengthen pathways and improve the support available to families.
* Oversee reporting requirements for funders and stakeholders, providing timely, accurate updates on progress, delivery, and outcomes.
* Collect and analyse data and insights to assess impact, support continuous service improvement, and ensure local risks and safeguarding are proactively managed.
