Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional Ward Clerk to work on Neustadt Welton at Lincoln County Hospital.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary ward team working on N/Welton.

You will be the first point of contact for visitors, patients and other staff of all disciplines and will provide a comprehensive range of clerical functions to support the ward team in delivering a high quality service to patients.

You will act as liaison between the clinical team, the patient's family, friends etc. and other third parties such as police, social services and clinical staff in other trusts. You will predominantly be using NHS it systems, including Careflow and WEB V on a daily basis.


Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate, you will provide clerical support and reception duties.

You will be the first point of contact for patients who are arriving for admission to the unit and maybe very anxious and so interpersonal skills, a friendly face and reassuring manner are essential. You will also provide a comprehensive range of clerical functions to support the ward team in delivering a high quality service to patients.

Your duties will include Admitting and discharging a large amount of patients on a daily basis, updating case notes and handling documentation, making appointments and possibly arranging transport.

Good IT skills are essential to this role as you will predominantly be using NHS IT systems, including Careflow and WEB V on a daily basis.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are needed to liaise with all staff, patients and relatives.

You should be highly motivated and flexible, with attention to detail.


Working for our organisation

Pilgrim Hospital is situated beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.

Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city and with the opening of the medical school, it provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.

This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
