And where we craft extraordinary ice cream experiences - transforming ordinary moments into lasting memories.​ Because we know, life tastes better with ice cream.​ Role Purpose The Senior Category Manager leads category management for Tesco and Co-op, acting as a trusted strategic partner to customers and a senior leader within the category team. The role blends best-in-class category thinking, customer leadership, and people management, with accountability for driving category growth, leading complex projects, and developing talent. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role proactively identifies opportunities while raising capability and standards across the function. Key Accountabilities Customer & Category Leadership · Own the category agenda for Tesco and Co-op, delivering insight-led strategies that drive sustainable growth · Act as a senior category expert, influencing buyers, planners, and senior stakeholders · Lead end-to-end range, space, and category projects with high standards of analysis and storytelling · Translate shopper, consumer, and market insights into clear, actionable customer recommendations · Partner closely with CD, Marketing, and CSP to ensure aligned and executable plans Senior Leadership & Ways of Working · Set standards for quality, pace, and ways of working within the category team · Lead cross-functional and ad-hoc projects with clear structure and delivery focus · Identify and drive improvements in tools, processes, and category capability · Role model strong planning, stakeholder management, and confident customer engagement Coaching & Development · Line manage and develop a Category Executive through clear direction and coaching · Build team capability in customer engagement, storytelling, and technical category skills · Share best practice to support wider team development Insight & Decision Making · Lead advanced analysis across EPOS, panel, and shopper data to diagnose performance and unlock opportunities · Ensure insights are commercially relevant, prioritised, and customer-focused · Challenge assumptions and elevate thinking to true category leadership Skills & Experience Essential · Significant FMCG category management experience, ideally with Tesco and/or Co-op · Proven delivery of complex range reviews and category projects end-to-end · Strong customer presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders · Experience line managing and developing others · Strong analytical capability combined with clear storytelling and presentation skills · Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities Desirable · Experience acting as a category lead across multiple accounts · Experience leading cross-functional or transformational projects · Understanding of convenience, online, and total store dynamics Leadership Expectations · Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and confidence · Sets the benchmark for quality and delivery · Acts as a positive role model for collaboration and growth mindset · Balances strategic thinking with hands-on execution ABOUT T HE MAGNUM ICE CREAM COMPANY: With 19.000 expert ice cream colleagues and iconic brands like Wall’s, Cornetto and Ben & Jerry’s, loved in 76 countries, we are the world’s largest Ice Cream company leading the industry We have been taking pleasure seriously for more than 100 years, serving happiness with every lick or scoop of ice cream for generations.
