We are seeking a Lead Software Developer to join our National Security & Defence team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with an expanding team, developing software and addressing customer queries across multiple products.
Your responsibilities will include collaborating with customers to solve complex problems, developing tools and techniques, managing requirements, designing technical solutions, and overseeing system integration and testing activities. You will also provide technical leadership to engineering teams and ensure adherence to project processes.
Our Capability Development team specializes in bespoke software for Cyber Security, focusing on C and C++, with experience across iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. We value a deep understanding of programming languages, platforms, and tooling.
Your skills and experiences:
* Proficiency in C++, Java, or Rust for application and embedded development.
* Experience with development tools, IDEs, and toolchains for development boards.
* Ability to adapt to new technologies in a dynamic environment.
* Knowledge of communication protocols for peripheral device interfacing.
* Experience in coding for embedded systems and writing unit tests.
* Proficiency with Git and version control systems.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
* Experience in designing and implementing complex solutions, including legacy updates.
* Familiarity with platform APIs, development environments, and debugging on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android.
* Understanding of cryptography, USB communication, and wireless protocols like Ultra-Wideband and Bluetooth.
* Experience working on secure government or MoD IT projects.
Education:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field.
* Professional membership of BCS or IET preferred.
