Job description
Our client, a leading organisation in the HTP sector, is currently looking for a diligent Health & Safety (H&S) Manager to join their team on a contract basis. This role is pivotal for overseeing the development and implementation of health and safety policies within major highway projects, ensuring a secure working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Investigating accidents and incidents: Thoroughly investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
2. Providing training and guidance to employees: Educate employees on safe work practices, hazard awareness, and the proper use of safety equipment.
3. Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation: Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring the organisation meets all legal requirements.
4. Monitoring and auditing H&S performance: Regularly monitor the effectiveness of safety procedures, conduct audits, and make recommendations for improvement.
5. Managing the H&S team: If applicable, hire, train, and supervise other members of the H&S team.
6. Developing and implementing H&S policies and procedures: Create a comprehensive framework for managing workplace safety, including risk assessments, safe work procedures, and emergency plans.
7. Conducting risk assessments and hazard identification: Regularly assess the workplace for potential hazards and risks, and develop strategies to eliminate or mitigate them.
Job Requirements:
8. Experience in managing health and safety within major projects, specifically in the highway sector.
9. Proven ability to develop and implement robust H&S policies and procedures.
10. Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
11. Proficiency in conducting thorough risk assessments and hazard identification.
12. Excellent investigative skills for analysing accidents and incidents.
13. Effective communicator with proven skills in training and guiding employees.
14. Capacity to monitor, audit, and enhance H&S performance effectively.
15. Leadership capabilities for managing an H&S team, if required.
