ESTATES OFFICER BUILDING OPERATIONS
Agenda for Change Band 6 (£43,231 - £52,679).
Fixed‑term 12 months, 36 hours per week, external or internal secondment opportunity.
This position will be based at Borders General Hospital (Melrose) with a requirement to work flexibly across the Scottish Borders region serving acute and primary health care facilities.
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced estates officer to help manage the building maintenance and minor works programmes across the estate.
Ideally with experience in a range of building type disciplines such as plumbing, joinery, painting and grounds maintenance.
The successful candidate will have experience managing during periods of change, be able to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands, and lead and manage a team of in‑house trades and external contractors.
Excellent interpersonal skills combined with good organisational skills, assertiveness and diplomacy; the ability to use logic to solve problems rationally and effectively and communicate clearly and articulately at all levels.
The person must be willing to undertake the role of Authorised Person/responsible person for building systems and undergo required training.
There is a requirement to provide on‑call services and, in occasional emergency situations, work outside normal hours.
Candidates must possess a full/valid driving licence.
Holders of this role may be subject to a criminal records check under the PVG scheme.
