Qualified Maths and Science Teacher
Science and Maths Teacher – Alternative Provision – Hartlepool
Are you a passionate and resilient teacher looking for a meaningful role in an alternative education setting?
Milk Education is working in partnership with an Alternative Provision Secondary School in Hartlepool to appoint a dedicated Science and Maths Teacher for the academic year (September 2025 – July 2026). This is a full-time role focused on supporting vulnerable young people who struggle to regulate their behaviour and thrive in mainstream education.
The Role – Science and Maths Teacher (Alternative Provision):
In this highly rewarding role, you will be responsible for delivering both Science and Maths lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and 4. These learners often present with challenging behaviour, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, or may have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion. Your ability to build trust, maintain consistency, and provide structure will be key to helping them re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in both Science and Maths.
Create a calm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Manage behaviour effectively using positive reinforcement and restorative approaches.
Build strong, trusted relationships with students to encourage engagement and resilience.
Collaborate with SENCOs, behaviour mentors, and pastoral teams to support pupils’ emotional and academic needs.
Track and report on student progress in line with individual learning plans.
Support the wider school community by contributing to team meetings, training, and interventions.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
Ability to teach both Science and Maths up to KS4 level.
Experience working with vulnerable or disengaged learners is highly desirable.
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach.
A compassionate and adaptable teaching style, with a passion for inclusive education.
Willingness to contribute to the ethos of a nurturing and trauma-informed school setting.
