At SASH, we are running a unique programme for those completing their Portfolio Pathway (CESR) in Paediatrics. We are linked with a London PICU, tertiary NICU, and a community paediatrics team, allowing you to complete your training during employment with us. A team of dedicated consultants experienced in CESR will supervise you through the process.
Position Overview
We seek to employ a senior clinical fellow at specialty doctor level, covering general paediatrics and neonatology in our busy secondary care service for 12 months. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a CESR programme, working at St Georges Hospital in London in their PICU and tertiary NICU, with placements in the community. Support will be provided by experienced CESR consultants with regular appraisals.
Role Details
This post is to cover rota gaps in general and neonatal paediatrics at Consultant, Middle grade, and SHO levels. You will work an 18-person, full-shift rota, including short days, long days, evening shifts (1-10 pm), and night shifts.
Clinical Areas and Responsibilities
* Paediatric inpatient unit (Outwood ward)
* Child Assessment Unit (CAU)
* Neonatal unit (NNU)
* Postnatal ward (Burstow ward)
You will rotate across all areas in paediatrics and neonates, independently hold registrar-led outpatient clinics supervised by a consultant, and work approximately one in three weekends. Night shifts occur every six weeks. All clinical areas are well-supported with consultant presence, and cross-team working is expected.
Training and Development
Our extensive teaching schedule includes consultant-led morning teaching, weekly X-ray meetings, simulation sessions, safeguarding peer reviews, perinatal mortality and morbidity meetings, and paediatric teaching. Opportunities exist for audit, quality improvement projects, presentations at departmental and hospital grand rounds, and teaching medical students.
Mentorship and Support
You will be allocated an Educational Supervisor (ES) to mentor and guide you in this post.
