Cardiff and Vale Local Authority, in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, are jointly developing a team to support and sit alongside young people and their families who are experiencing high levels of distress. The name of the team is Goleudy which is the welsh word for Lighthouse (a beacon of hope). Goleudy's core values are: Trauma-Informed, Formulation Driven and Attachment Focused. The team will ensure that understanding of young people's needs are centred around: 'what has happened to them?' as opposed to: 'what is wrong with them?' Difference will be celebrated within the team through the promotion of a culture of learning together. In accordance to trauma informed principles the team will receive regular supervision, mentoring, reflective practice, formulation conversations and nurture days.
Building, maintaining and growing relationships is key to the team. Emphasis will be placed on working alongside and in partnership of the existing services within the local authority (social work & education) and health systems.
