The role
An opportunity has arisen for the position of Facilities Cleaning Manager within the Fleet and Facilities Services team.
This is a crucial role within a dynamic customer focused business in which you will be responsible for direct management of the day to day delivery of the cleaning service within but not limited to civic buildings, schools both maintained and academy and private enterprise, ensuring that cleaning is carried out in accordance with the commercial contract, defined cleaning specification and industry best practice standards.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, having gained relevant business experience. As a driven and flexible individual you will be required to manage a team consisting of Assistant Manager, Area Cleaning Supervisors and the wider cleaning team of over 300 operatives serving approximately 120 client buildings.
You will need to ensure resource planning meets business and contract needs, that health/safety and welfare business processes are developed and embedded, that staff training is maintained and that required documentation and work place polices are robustly managed.
You will ensure commercial viability of each contract, that financial deadlines are met and accurate, performance management is challenged and compliance audits are delivered from the client eye.
The successful candidate will be required to develop with the Fleet and Facilities Manager, commercial tender responses, delivering professional presentations to potential clients as part of the process.
Facilities Cleaning is a service delivery business with a large client portfolio, the role requires the successful candidate to proactively engage with client representatives Business Managers and Heads of Establishments to ensure expectation and delivery are aligned.
Working 37 hours Monday to Friday between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00 in the main, however there may be occasions when you will need to work outside of these hours in the evenings and possible weekends due to business needs. The role whilst operating from a site-based office will require attending multiple sites and client premises.
You will work closely with the wider Fleet and Facilities Services team where a one team approach is crucial to success.

2. Relevant management experience in a related business sector
3. Extensive relevant business and office-based experience
4. Experience of working in a client delivery environment
5. Flexibility with hours of delivery to accommodate business needs and operational hours
6. Knowledge of relevant industry best practice standards
7. Business/Management qualification
8. A current UK category B driving licence is required and use of own vehicle with business use insurance, for which an essential car allowance and mileage reimbursement is paid
9. Computer literate with high standard of numeracy, literacy and verbal skills
10. Enhanced DBS will be required
11. Ability to develop and gain new experience
12. Ability and willingness to undertake training as directed by the organisation, some of which could require overnight stays and personal commitment to achieve
A period of opportunity for completion of agreed and funded training can be provided for the right candidate if all essential criteria in the Person Specification are not initially met.
