Job Overview

This post is fixed term / secondment for 3 months to meet the needs of the service.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Junior Sister to join morris ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse with an interest in infection prevention and be passionate about delivering high standards of care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the Senior Sister with the leadership and management of the provision of care within the ward providing a visible leadership presence. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical evidence based care are continuously achieved and monitored, ensuring a positive learning environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical skills in relation to all aspects of care, combined with a caring attitude and good interpersonal and communication skills with patients and all members of the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will have opportunities to enhance their clinical skills and develop their management and leadership experience. You will be supported by a dynamic experienced team. Post holders will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team including the hospital's infection prevention team.

You will need to be flexible and dynamic in your approach in delivering care to patients. The post holder needs to have good communication skills and be an effective team player.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Educated to Degree Level or working towards achieving degree. Evidence of post graduate training relevant to care of patients with a diagnosis of stroke. Willingness to work towards achieving Masters qualification relevant to area of work. Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Essential criteria

Substantial Post registration experience at Band 5 in care of patients with a diagnosis of stroke. This experience must have been within the last four years. Experience in monitoring and evaluating the provision of stroke treatment and care Experience of working across organisational boundaries in a health care setting Experience of working with an MDT across acute, community and primary care

Skills

Essential criteria

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal when interacting with members of the team, other professions, clients and their families, demonstrating the ability to impart complex information to all of the above recognising different levels of understanding The ability to work effectively in a team environment

Desirable criteria

Ability to provide advice with regard to service delivery, development and quality improvement
