Overview
Join to apply for the Senior Occupational Therapist role at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. This is a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist position to work within the Integrated Complex Assessment Team (ICAT) based in Cannock, covering the Southwest district Discharge to Assess (D2A) beds. The service provides rehabilitation, reablement and recovery to individuals who have been discharged from hospital, with the aim of returning to the previous level of independence.
As Senior OT you will have a detailed theoretical and practical knowledge in one of the areas of Rehabilitation, Integrated Community, Community Intervention and Enablement. You will be skilled in assessing complex care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans, and will work with the Team Leader to conduct delegated tasks that support team management and care coordination. You will demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem solving and will hold supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate, with some responsibility for team performance and service development. Travel across a large geographical area is required; ideally you will have a valid driving licence and access to a car.
Responsibilities
* Work with qualified and non-qualified therapists for day-to-day service delivery, supporting individuals recently discharged from hospital into a rehab bed in a local care home.
* Maximise individuals’ independence in a holistic manner and reduce the need for long-term services.
* Assess residents’ care/support needs when required and provide advice and support while working closely with care home staff to formulate a plan of care.
* Interventions may include: maintaining safety, moving and handling, falls management strategies, increasing functional and cognitive ability, improving health and wellbeing (including mental health), disease/condition management, and prevention of health inequalities.
* Demonstrate compassionate and appreciative leadership with people management skills.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registered
Desirable criteria
* Masters-level modules
* Evidence of further clinical study
* LACLs Accreditation
* Leadership experience/qualification
* Member of BAOT
Experience
Essential criteria
* Post-qualification courses in working with older people and people with physical disabilities
* Attendance at relevant clinical networks or Special Interest Groups
Desirable criteria
* Experience in using standardised assessments and outcome measures
* Experience of negotiation and conflict management in clinical situations
* Experience of working in Nursing/Residential homes
