Senior Wastewater Process Engineer (WSP)
Join our Water Engineering teams in Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle or Glasgow as a Senior Waste Water Process Engineer. In this role you will lead the delivery of process engineering design content for challenging wastewater and water reuse projects throughout the UK and overseas, from feasibility through to procurement‑ready design.

Responsibilities
* Produce process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, flow diagrams, P&ID drawings, sketches and basis of design reports.
* Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.
* Attend site visits for data acquisition and to meet site operators.
* Provide technical input to the procurement process.
* Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.
* Liaise with technology providers and vendors.
* Attend HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID and SWIFT workshops.
* Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision to junior staff.
* Collaborate with other disciplines on multi‑disciplinary projects to meet time, cost and quality expectations and integrate process engineering requirements into the overall design.
* Contribute to proposals, work scopes, schedules and budgets.
* Maintain liaison with the client (internal or external) to ensure their needs are met.
Qualifications
* A chemical or environmental engineering degree or MSc (or equivalent).
* Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership within 12 months.
Skills and Experience
* Significant experience delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering roles.
* Experience in the municipal water industry.
* Ability to work independently in preparing and reviewing process design packages such as specifications, calculations, reports, P&IDs and procurement documents.
* Experience delivering studies, feasibility, concept designs, FEED and detailed design for wastewater treatment solutions in the municipal or industrial sector (primary, secondary, tertiary, advanced biologics).
* Understanding of circular economy concepts, zero liquid discharge and emerging tertiary treatments.
* Experience in a consultancy or engineering environment as a process engineer.
* Proven ability to prepare high‑quality technical reports and deliver clear presentations to senior stakeholders.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to engage clients, colleagues and contractors.
* Experience leading multi‑disciplinary meetings and acting as the organisation’s technical representative with external clients.
* Willingness to travel to operational works and construction sites as required.
