Activities Coordinator at Discovery Care
As an Activities Coordinator at Discovery Care, you will work closely with the home manager/deputy manager to organise both social and person-centred activities to meet the needs and requests of our residents, ensuring they receive the exceptional care and support they deserve.
Responsibilities:
1. You will liaise with Care Staff regarding potential activities beneficial to residents and organise appropriate activities such as light exercise, arts & crafts, puzzles, knitting, sing-a-longs, days out, seasonal events, and more.
2. Organise special cultural activities in accordance with religious calendars like Hanukkah, Diwali, Christmas, Easter, etc.
3. Consider residents' preferences to ensure they enjoy the activities offered.
4. Organise all social activities/diversional therapy within the Home, considering residents' likes and dislikes.
5. Integrate new residents into the activities programme.
6. Coordinate with Care Staff on special individual requirements, such as celebrating birthdays and anniversaries.
7. Plan and participate in community visits outside the Home, arranging transportation for residents.
8. Develop activity schedules that involve all residents and communicate these effectively to residents and staff.
9. Plan daily activities, including at least one group activity and one-on-one sessions.
10. Provide specialist media for residents with specific needs, such as large-letter books, braille, etc.
11. Communicate and liaise with residents' relatives and friends as needed.
12. Assist care staff during mealtimes to promote protected mealtimes.
13. Ensure activities are documented in care plans and records, noting resident participation.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you should have an empathetic and warm personality, along with genuine enthusiasm to inspire residents to participate. The care home is based in Margate, so the ability to travel there and back is required.
