You will play a key role in the upkeep and smooth operation of Blackburn Market and Blackburn Bus Station, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, security, and customer service. Key Responsibilities: Cleaning & Maintenance : Sweep, mop, clean floors and surfaces, operate mechanical cleaning machines (including sit-on machinery), and use high-pressure washers/steam cleaners. Waste Management : Collect, sort, and dispose of waste, including using waste compaction equipment and separating recyclables. Customer Service : Act as the first point of contact for customer and trader queries, providing assistance where possible. Security Support : Assist in security matters, including unlocking and locking up the Market and Bus Station. You will also monitor and manage any disruptive behavior. Health & Safety : Follow health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe environment for both customers and staff. You may need to undergo first-aid and health & safety training. What the Client is Looking For: Experience : Experience in cleaning, maintenance, or public-facing roles is desirable. Experience with cleaning machinery is a plus. Knowledge : Health & Safety knowledge and an understanding of COSHH and PPE regulations are essential. Skills : Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills. Ability to work at heights and operate mobile elevated platforms. Flexibility : Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional overtime as required. Personality : A proactive, helpful, and positive approach to responsibilities. You must be courteous and able to work on your initiative or unsupervised.
