About the team and role:
The Revenue Management team at GWR is responsible for managing train pricing and analysing passenger demand and ticket sales, with the aim of maximising commercial returns while balancing demand with available capacity. Integral to the team, the Commercial Insights Analysts assess passenger demand and revenue performance, providing crucial analysis and insights to the business and stakeholders. This is done by utilising extensive data from various sources and tools such as SQL, Power BI and Tableau, which help make data-led, customer-focused decisions.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Supporting revenue and demand forecasting to predict the impact of commercial projects.
* Assisting in reporting on GWR's revenue performance and conducting analysis to explain changes or variances to forecast.
* Evaluating the impact of different factors that affect customer revenue and volumes.
* Provide regular and ad-hoc revenue analysis, manipulating and drawing meaningful insights from large and complex data sets, then presenting findings.
* Supporting analytical initiatives that will bring value to stakeholders across the network.
* Assisting with compiling revenue budget and forecasts.
You'll need to be:
* Detail oriented, ensuring accuracy.
* Organised with good time management.
* Able to visualise, present and communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
* Able to grasp and solve complex issues and systems quickly and independently.
* Able to make confident and innovative suggestions.
As a minimum you'll need to have:
* A strong commercial acumen
* Proven analytical and numerical skills
* A degree or equivalent experience
* Advanced working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
* An understanding of the UK rail industry is desirable but not essential.
* Experience with business intelligence software and working with large data sets would also be advantageous but not essential.
About the location
The Point is located on Paddington Basin, just a few minutes' walk from London Paddington station. There are onsite gym facilities and a range of shops/cafes in the immediate vicinity.
Working pattern
This role is 37 hours per week. Currently the team is working flexibly with some office and remote working. There is an expectation to attend the office at least twice per week. The team occasionally works from Milford House, Swindon, with their main location being The Point, Paddington.
