The role of the Hearing Help Essex (HHE) Volunteer Admin/Office Support is to help with day-to-day tasks within the office which is situated in Meadow View Cottage,
* be provided with induction and ongoing training by both HHE staff and experienced volunteers.
* provide general database administration, data input, filing, printing and postage, updating social media, updating our WordPress website, general office tasks, taking telephone calls etc.
* always work alongside an experienced member of HHE staff and be supported in your role.
Skills
A Hearing Help Essex volunteer should:
* be patient
* be a good listener
* be personable
* An experienced computer user and be able to use MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
* understand hearing loss and know how to communicate clearly with those living with hearing loss (after training)
* be able to multitask
* be able to provide basic NHS hearing aid maintenance (after training)
* be a good team player, and enjoy working as part of a friendly team
* be able to ensure confidentiality at all times
* be a confident and clear communicator
Before you join as a volunteer, you will need to have a DBS check and attend appropriate training, which will be followed by shadowing one of our experienced HHE team until you feel confident.
HHE is a small charity with a team of loyal volunteers. We pride ourselves on looking after our volunteers and like them all to feel part of a very special team. We have an annual volunteer update training day, as well as various optional ‘top-up’ training opportunities and coffee mornings throughout the year.
Our office opening times are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, and we would welcome applications from anyone who has a few hours a week to spare during these times
