Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Contract: Full-time (Maternity Cover)
Key Stages: KS3-KS4

A Good-rated secondary school in Darlington is seeking a passionate, adaptable, and skilled Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to join their welcoming department on a full-time maternity cover from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across KS3 and KS4, fostering a love of languages, cultural awareness, and confident communication skills.
The Role:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging MFL lessons in line with the national curriculum
Teach across KS3 and KS4, developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Create a supportive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment that promotes confidence and progression
Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support or challenge
Monitor and assess student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to support attainment
Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations
Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the MFL department
Support enrichment activities where possible, such as language clubs, cultural events, or international-themed activities
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching MFL at KS3 and KS4 (Spanish preferred but not essential)
Strong subject knowledge and the ability to bring languages and cultures to life
Excellent classroom management and communication skills, with a commitment to raising achievement
