What are we looking for?
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our site in Yeovil as an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer. The appointed individual will support the development of concept designs, including analysis, with a keen awareness of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations. The role also involves detailed design work and processing of engineering changes. Working as part of the design team, the Design Engineer is responsible for the concept and detailed design of new products and assembly tooling, along with all drawings and project documentation. You will work on complex aerospace engineering projects across various areas including Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Life Support Systems (LSS).
Honeywell Aerospace is a leading provider of integrated avionics, engines, systems, and service solutions for aircraft manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation, military, space, and airport operations. The Yeovil site includes Integrated Supply Chain operations, Engineering & Technology, and other support functions, specializing in environmental control systems, life support systems, and control and data systems.
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
A mechanical engineer/designer skilled in both 2D and 3D CAD. A degree qualification is preferred but not essential if the candidate has the right skills, experience, and motivation. Experience in small component design, design for manufacturing principles, and fine tolerance components is desirable.

Key Responsibilities
* Develop innovative solutions in a fluid team environment
* Maintain customer awareness and results-focused work ethic
* Desirable to have 2-5 years of CAD experience, especially in precision components; recent graduates are welcome
* Basic understanding of configuration control
* Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
* Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean principles is advantageous
* Understanding of machining and manufacturing techniques is beneficial
* Ability to adapt and work beyond comfort zones
Some understanding of general engineering, thermodynamics, and material selection is advantageous.
