REED/LTA are seekinga dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal Year 1 pupil with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) in a nurturing primary school environment in the south ribble area. The role is full time 8:45am to 3:15pm Monday to Friday. Thisrole requires a compassionate individual who can provide both educational support and intimate care to the pupil, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning experience.
The pay for the role will be £14.18 per hour, and the role will be for 30 hours a week.
A dbs on the update service is required and SENexperience is preferred.,
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide tailored support to a non-verbal Year 1 pupil, focusing on communication and engagement within the classroom.
* Assist the pupil with daily tasks and learning activities, adapting materials and methods to meet the child's needs.
* Perform intimate care duties as required, maintaining the dignity and comfort of the pupil.
* Collaborate with teachers, special educational needs coordinators (SENCO), and parents to implement the pupil's EHCP effectively.
* Monitor and support the pupil's emotional and social development, encouraging positive interactions and participation in school activities.
* Utilise alternative communication tools and techniques to enhance the pupil's expression and understanding.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience in a similar role supporting children with special educational needs, particularly non-verbal children.
* Qualified in paediatric first aid or willing to undergo training.
* Understanding of the specific needs associated with intimate care and the ability to perform these duties with sensitivity and professionalism.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff and engage with children.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
