The AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects, combining project management, commercial and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors. The team delivers design services across Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations) and Urban Developments. This role is based in Newcastle, serving the North Scotland and Northern Ireland (NS&NI) practice, and involves end‑to‑end delivery of large multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the project to agreed programme, budget and quality targets.
* Define project objectives and develop a strategy for achieving them.
* Identify and manage contractual/commercial risks and opportunities.
* Lead, motivate and develop the project team, fostering problem‑solving and decision making.
* Facilitate communication, coordination and information flow with the client, subcontractors and internal partners.
* Agree commercial trading arrangements and communication plans with discipline leads and global teams.
* Own the project delivery programme and delivery plans.
* Protect commercial interests through accurate invoicing, credit control and margin management, including Earned Value reporting.
* Close out projects, archive documentation, update market information and capture lessons learned; conduct client satisfaction surveys.
* Ensure delivery is aligned with AtkinsRéalis Values, Safety, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation.
About You
* Chartered Engineer/Architect/Project Manager or equivalent with demonstrable experience managing design and/or construction on large infrastructure projects; APM PMQ (or equivalent) desirable.
* Experience deploying NEC3/4 or bespoke contracts; proven track record of delivering projects to time, cost and quality objectives; familiar with programming and Earned Value techniques.
* Knowledge of BIM and 3D modelling tools for design and coordination.
* Customer‑focused with strong client relationship management skills.
* Understanding of assurance and compliance principles within relevant industry environments.
* Capability to identify new opportunities, drive value and secure new work.
* Self‑motivated, detail oriented, proactive, resilient under tight deadlines.
* Leadership qualities with effective delegation, mentorship of less experienced team members.
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills; available to travel across the UK and work away from home.
