Overview
Birmingham City Council has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Contract Works Officer working as part of the Aids and Adaptations Team. The role is permanent, with a working pattern of 36.5 hours per week.
Role details
Contract Works Officer — Permanent, Grade C- £35,412 - £41,771. Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review. Working 36.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Deliver aids and adaptations to a diverse community, ensuring varied needs are met.
* Understand and interpret Priority Needs Assessments from the Occupational Therapy team and deliver required works to meet the adaptations recommended.
* Review adaptation programmes, review costs, understand and agree variations to works, produce clear, concise reports, and collate all required information from notes and manuals through to agreed costs.
* Ensure quality and customer-based care by working closely with repair partners.
* Inspect and diagnose building defects to low- and high-rise blocks and order remedial works to be carried out by the nominated contractor.
* Deliver Planned Works from inception to completion and within budget.
* Apply knowledge of residential maintenance and, where applicable, hold a desirable qualification in Gas or Electric to a minimum of HNC or BTEC Building or equivalent experience.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have your own vehicle; role is hybrid with a base office but requires attendance at various city-wide locations.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience in inspecting and diagnosing building defects in residential properties and managing remedial works via contractors.
* Desirable qualification in Gas or Electric to a minimum of HNC or BTEC Building or relevant industry experience.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
