Senior Liver Cell Scientist – Research Scientist

The post holder is a member of a multidisciplinary team developing the use of hepatocyte transplantation in children with liver-based metabolic disorders. They will be based at the Institute of Liver Studies laboratories within the Cheyne Wing at King's College Hospital.
The post holder shall work on a research project which aims to explore the immunomodulatory and regenerative potential of MSCs, with the goal of developing advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) for clinical translation.
Responsibilities
* Conduct independent research into the immunomodulatory effects and therapeutic mechanisms of MSCs in biliary atresia models.
* Employ a range of cellular and molecular techniques, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and advanced microscopy.
* Collaborate closely with other researchers within the Hepatocyte Biology and Transplantation Group and with clinical partners.
* Present work at weekly research meetings and contribute to publications, grant applications, and conference presentations.
* Support junior researchers and students, providing scientific advice and training where appropriate.
* Participate in GMP‑compliant cell isolation and processing where required.
* Engage with the broader scientific and clinical community through lectures, seminars, and journal clubs.
