Job Summary

Part time – 20 hours per week, term time only (worked flexibility across the school year). Required from September 2026.


About the School

Norwich High School for Girls was founded in 1875 and is an independent day school for girls from 3-18 with approximately 600 pupils. The school is part of The Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the largest independent school group in the UK, and is at the forefront of education for girls and a strong voice in promoting opportunities for young women.


Role Overview

An inspirational and enthusiastic Head of Rowing is required to take the lead on training our crews from J14 to Senior. The successful candidate will possess an excellent knowledge of rowing as well as coaching experience.


Responsibilities

* Coach crews during term time on two afternoons a week (Tuesday and Thursday 1pm‑4pm).
* Lead a Saturday morning session for beginners and more experienced rowers (4 hours).
* Conduct two early morning strength and conditioning sessions (Tuesday and Thursday 7.15‑8.15am) and one early morning rowing session (Wednesday 6.00‑8.15am).
* Allocate time for administration and support other sports clubs as appropriate.
* Line manage a minimum of two support rowing coaches.
* Drive a school minibus to transport pupils from school to the boathouse (advantageous).
* Work flexibly across the school year based on rowing conditions and regattas, including a requirement to work 10 days during school closure periods.


Qualifications

* Performed or coached to a high standard.
* Possess at least a British Rowing Coaching Level 2 (or working towards) and an RYA Powerboat Level 2.
* Demonstrate an ability to motivate staff and students.
* Ability to line‑manage support rowing coaches.
* Capability to drive a school minibus (advantageous).
