To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society. NHS Ayrshire & Arran welcome applications for a General Adult Psychiatrist post in the East Ayrshire locality. Serving a population of 122,000 in a mixed urban and rural catchment area the successful applicant will work with consultant colleagues to deliver a comprehensive adult mental health service across one of the three Ayrshire localities. The successful applicant will be welcomed into a friendly and forward thinking team of consultants where peer support is valued and protected. The post will be supported by appropriate medical secretary time and junior doctor input. The post will comprise in-patient working and an out-patient caseload. Consultant offices and secretarial support are based with the Community Team at the North West Kilmarnock Area Centre, Kilmarnock. In-patients are based at Woodland View Hospital in Irvine. The applicant would be expected to drive and have access to a car. There is ample opportunity for teaching and supervision within Woodland View Hospital who receive medical students from Glasgow and Dundee medical schools. Participation in the out of hours on-call rota is 1 in 26 and attracts a 3% supplement allowance. Out of hours on-call is supported by Specialist Higher Trainees, staff grade colleagues and with 24 hour ANP/CT/FY junior doctor support on hospital sites. NHS Ayrshire & Arran serves the local authorities of East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire with a total population of approximately 365,000. Ayrshire is a peaceful and charming place to work with quick and easy access, by road from Glasgow. Many staff choose to live within Ayrshire where there are good schools and easy access to local beaches, parks and wildlife. There is also a large variety of shopping and entertainment facilities. The appointment will be subject to the terms and conditions of service of the Consultant contract. Applicants should be fully registered medical practitioners with a license to practice who have their MRCPsych or equivalent and an appropriate CCT (or be eligible for inclusion within 6 months of the interview date).
