Job Title: Senior Residential Care Worker

Location: Wiltshire, SN12 8BN

Pay rate: £33,592 per annum

Job Type: Full-Time


Shift and schedule

* 160 hours per month (average 40 hours per week)
* Rota basis: 2 days on + sleep-in, followed by 4 days off


Salary & Benefits

* £33,592 per annum

Company and Role

* Supporting children and young people in a residential care setting
* Leading shifts and supporting the staff team
* Creating a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment
* Promoting independence, confidence, and personal development


Day‑to‑day responsibilities include

* Leading shifts and supporting team members to deliver high‑quality care
* Supporting the Home Manager and deputising in their absence
* Supervising staff and supporting performance and development
* Ensuring safeguarding and child protection standards are upheld at all times
* Supporting children with daily routines, activities, and emotional wellbeing
* Acting as a positive role model for both young people and staff
* Contributing to care planning and attending reviews/meetings
* Supporting behaviour using appropriate strategies and therapeutic approaches
* Liaising with external professionals such as social workers, schools, and therapists
* Supporting the induction and development of new staff
* Ensuring health & safety procedures and risk assessments are followed


Household responsibilities include

* Supporting with the day‑to‑day running of the home
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
* Promoting a healthy lifestyle for children and young people
* Ensuring the home environment is safe, structured, and welcoming


Successful Candidate

* Previous experience working in children’s residential care (essential)
* Experience in a senior or leadership role (preferred)
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
* Ability to lead shifts and support a team effectively
* Calm, resilient, and confident approach
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Flexible to work shifts, including sleep‑ins and weekends
* Commitment to continuous professional development
