LSA role in a specialist provision for children aged 7-19, all of whom have experienced significant trauma, social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
The role emphasizes holistic and restorative practices, fostering empathy at every opportunity. The school adopts a non-punitive approach, using manual handling training only when absolutely necessary.

You will receive extensive SEN and safeguarding training, including MAPA training. As an aspiring clinical psychologist, this role offers a chance to explore areas of interest and develop relevant skills over time.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting secondary aged students (11-16) with EHCPs, including Autism, OCD, verbal and non-verbal children, and those with social anxiety.
* Engaging in physical work and applying pragmatic approaches to maximize academic progress within each child's context.
* Managing anti-social behavior as part of supporting society's most vulnerable children, with training and support provided by the school.
* Implementing therapies and holistic processes, celebrating even small progress.
* Supporting children with Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Pathological Demand Avoidance.
* Adapting approaches to cater to diverse cognitive abilities across age groups.
* Providing positive engagement to foster acceptance, utilizing talking therapies and alternative methods when necessary.
* Encouraging independence and setting objectives, especially for students in assisted living.
