Join Our Team as a Senior Medical Technologist!
Department: MH Laboratory
Location: Massena Hospital
Hours Per Week: Full-time, 40 scheduled hours
Schedule: Rotating 8-hour shifts (7 AM - 3 PM, 3 PM - 11 PM, 11 PM - 7 AM) with weekend rotation
About the Role
As a vital member of our professional medical team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality laboratory services. Your expertise will help us perform clinical analyses on blood, urine, body fluids, and tissues, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You’ll utilize your problem-solving skills to tackle clinical and instrument challenges, making a real difference in patient care.
Your Responsibilities
* Perform testing accurately and in a timely manner.
* Interpret clinical test results, correlating them with patient history and conditions.
* Communicate critical lab results and any instrument malfunctions to medical personnel.
* Conduct quality control and maintenance, troubleshooting as needed.
* Prepare reagents and manage laboratory supplies efficiently.
* Provide weekend/holiday supervisory coverage as required.
* Train new and existing staff on procedures and instrumentation.
* Teach in the School of Medical Technology and assist with specialized diagnostic procedures.
* Engage in research and development of new technologies.
* Take on additional duties as requested by the Manager.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
* Degree: BS in Medical Technology or a related science, or equivalent experience recognized by the New York State Department of Education.
* Certification: New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
* Experience: 4+ years in a relevant Medical Technology Laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
* Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
* Experience in a Clinical or Pathology Laboratory.
* Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
Physical Requirements
This role involves medium work, requiring the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently. Frequent walking, standing, or squatting is also necessary.
