Accountable to the Tooling Manager, the Injection Mould Toolmaker will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and manufacturing new plastic injection mould tools and press tools to a very high standard.
Principal Accountabilities:
Manufacturing of new injection mould tools from technical drawings and SolidWorks models to a high level of workmanship in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Repair, modify and maintain existing production tooling.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
* Have a time served Toolmaker Apprenticeship.
* Min of 3 years’ experience within a med/large manufacturing Tool Room.
* Experience in CNC operation (Sodick Wire and EDM, Jones & Shipman grinders and Hurco mills).
* Experience with manual spark erosion, surface & cylindrical grinding, milling and turning.
* Experience in hot runner systems (Gunther/Yudo).
* Portray a ‘can do’ attitude.
* Have good communication skills.
* Be able to work effectively in a team environment.
* Technical knowledge of plastic injection moulding.
* Be conversant with Tool Room machinery and bench fitting combined with the ability to fault find.
* Ability to read technical drawings from CAD 2D and 3D models SolidWorks.
Key Accountabilities:
* Complete tool servicing, repairing and troubleshooting activities for different types of complex injection mould tools, in-line with internal customers' expectations for robustness, quality and timelines.
* To manufacture tooling parts using the full range of Tool Room equipment either from detailed drawing or project brief and sketches within the defined tolerances, ensuring all work is completed with 'right first time' principles.
* To manufacture new tooling and provide support with validation process, to ensure the appropriate standards are met and that any tooling activities are completed to the agreed plan.
* Maintain and update all relevant documentation related to tooling activities in line with the agreed Company standards, ensuring that any regulatory or quality requirements are met.
* Use of CADCAM to complete CNC machining activities.
* Experience in SolidWorks.
* Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and business IT systems.
* Experienced in hot and cold runner injection mould tools, Pneumatic & Hydraulic actuated tools.
* Previous Knowledge of serving injection moulding tools.
