Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist team at George Eliot Hospital. The Haematology team is a dynamic, supportive and friendly multi-disciplinary team dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centred care. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is committed to providing the highest standard of nursing support and care to both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Any applicants must have knowledge and experience in haematology and chemotherapy and possess excellent communication skills. You will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary Haematology team and must be confident in acting as the patient’s advocate to ensure the best outcomes throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway.
Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive specialist support service to patients/families with a suspected or proven haematological disorder.
* Act as the key worker for patients with a haematological diagnosis offering expert care, advice, support and developing holistic plans of care.
* Work as part of a multi-professional team to deliver enhanced clinical practice; participate in education, audit and application of evidence-based practice within the specialty.
* Deliver education programmes to patients, carers and other nursing staff as agreed by the senior haematology clinical nurse specialist.
* Act as a role model, providing advice and specialist knowledge to other nursing/medical staff caring for patients/clients within the specialty.
* Participate in research and audit as part of the multi-professional team within the specialty; ensure that high quality data is collected for audit and research trials as required.
* Ensure current registration with the NMC and liaise with Consultants, Ward/Department Team/Matrons/MDT and other wards and departments to ensure optimum patient care.
* Contribute to educational sessions and MDT meetings on a regular basis; engage in ongoing professional and academic development.
* Be encouraged to expand knowledge, skills and competencies within a supported environment with training opportunities available.
* Support service development and continual improvement of patient care.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Knowledge and experience in haematology and chemotherapy.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to advocate for patients while liaising with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
* Commitment to ongoing professional and academic development.
* Current registration with the NMC.
* Willingness to learn and be self-motivated to develop skills within a compassionate team.
Location, Hours & Contract
Location: George Eliot Hospital, West Midlands, United Kingdom.
Hours: 25 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Contract: Permanent.
Salary: £38,682 - £46,580 per annum
