British School of Aviation (BSA) is a rapidly growing UK CAA & EASA Part-147 approved aviation training organisation delivering world-class technical training for aircraft maintenance engineers. BSA works with airline and aviation industry partners to provide aircraft type training, regulatory courses, and specialist aviation programmes supporting the next generation of aviation professionals.
The Role
The General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership, management and regulatory oversight of BSA. This is a senior leadership position combining commercial management, operational leadership and regulatory accountability. Reporting to the Operational Directors, the ideal candidate will execute the budget and company vision and work to grow the profile of BSA as a global leader in aerospace training. The role can be hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 Working From Home, however at the request of the board you may be required to come into the office on WFH days.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Business Leadership
* Develop and implement BSA’s business strategy and growth plans
* Identify and develop new training programmes and revenue opportunities
* Build strategic partnerships with airlines, MROs, OEMs and training organisations
* Oversee financial performance, budgeting and profitability
* Represent BSA in the aviation industry and at regulatory meetings
* Support expansion of BSA’s global training footprint
Operational Management
* Oversee day-to-day operations of the training organisation, it's facilities and supply chain
* Manage instructors, examiners and operational staff
* Ensure effective course scheduling and training delivery
* Maintain high standards in training delivery and student experience
* Oversee facilities, equipment and training resources
Candidate Requirements
Essential
* Right to live and work in the UK.
* Significant leadership experience within aviation training or MRO environments
* Experience working within Part-147 regulatory frameworks
* Eligible to act as UK CAA / EASA Part-147 Training Manager if required and meet the regulators requirements to hold this post as a Form 4 holder
* Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance training and compliance requirements
* Demonstrated ability to manage teams and training operations
* Strong commercial and strategic management capability
Highly Desirable
* Experience working with global airlines or aviation training organisations
* Background as a licensed aircraft engineer (Part-66) or equivalent technical aviation experience
* Experience developing new aviation training programmes
* Experience managing CAA or EASA regulatory approvals
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Former or current Part‑147 Training Manager, Deputy Training Manager, or Head of Training at an aviation training organisation
* Senior Licensed Aircraft Engineer (Part‑66) with management experience in training or MRO environments
* Experience working with airline technical training departments or major MRO providers
* Demonstrated experience dealing directly with aviation regulators such as UK CAA or EASA
* Strong commercial awareness and experience contributing to business growth or training programme development
* Proven ability to lead instructors, examiners and operational teams
* Comfortable operating at both operational and strategic leadership levels
* Strong professional reputation within the aviation maintenance or training community
