East Staffordshire Borough Council is committed to creating a safe environment for those within the Borough and is looking to recruit a Parking Enforcement Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of five Officers including a Supervisor which deal with Parking Enforcement of East Staffordshire Borough Council owned carparks across the Borough. The post also includes the Enforcement of littering and dog fouling on Council owned car parks and prepare witness statement and attend court. The Parking Enforcement Officers’ role is to patrol the car parks and issue Penalty Charge Notices where there are contraventions of the parking orders. The role also requires that the Officer maintains the parking machines and reports any car park defects. You should have excellent communication skills along with the ability to accurately record information for reports and witness statements. You should have the ability manage conflict and challenging behaviour. You must hold a full driving licence as the role requires Officers to cover the whole of the East Staffordshire Borough. The successful candidate must have GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent. Certificated qualifications in the areas of Civil Enforcement would be desirable. Applicants should ideally have previous experience of working in a Local Authority environment, working with residents, Council Members and other stakeholders and have experience of parking enforcement and legislation. Basic IT skills are essential along with an understanding of applicable law and practice, and a willingness to keep up to date with legislation. It is essential to be observant and have the ability to record information accurately during patrols, remaining calm, polite and helpful when dealing with potentially difficult situations. The hours of work are 37 hours per week working on a shift pattern to include weekends between the hours of 7am and 8pm. This includes bank holidays and over the Christmas and New Year period.
