Background
Our client is a mid-tier, dynamic fast growing A rated reinsurance organisation trusted by almost 2000 clients operating across over 100 countries. They cover Natural Disaster, Life & Health, Property, Financial and compliance as well as industry specific lines of business. The business is currently going through a period of high growth, demand, and investment and as a result is now looking to hire a Senior Underwriter Group Life and personal accident for their London office to drive the business further
The Role
This position is tasked to define and execute the growth strategy for the London office across the Group Life and Personal accident service line. The business has a very solid client base and significant revenue already within Group Life & Personal Accident though is currently being serviced from outside of the UK hence the reason to recruit. Your remit will include but not limited to identifying new business opportunities in Europe and the Middle East, building, and maintaining relationships with brokers and insurers and presenting commercial proposals and attend industry meetings and events on behalf of our client. You will assess and underwrite group life and personal accident risks, define terms and conditions for reinsurance programs, and collaborate with the actuarial team to analyse profitability and pricing. We are looking for you to develop long-term relationships with clients and brokers, provide expert advice and manage contract renewals, conduct market research, and monitor insurance trends whilst staying updated on regulatory changes affecting life and accident insurance.
The Candidate
We are looking for a proven Senior Life Underwriter with experienced gained ideally from within a top tier reinsurance organisation or possibly the Insurance sector. In addition to a strong background in group life and personal accident underwriting, in order to be successful in the role you will need deep knowledge of the London markets and ideally operated with clients across EMEA. You will need experience in commercial negotiations and risk assessment, strong commercial acumen with a proactive approach to business development and an individual who understands the value of delivering a high-quality service and exceptional customer journeys. Furthermore, you need to be able to demonstrate technical expertise in underwriting, actuarial analysis, and risk evaluation, excellent negotiation and communication skills coupled with the ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to different business cultures. As an individual you need to be highly entrepreneurial, very much a natural self-starter, a pro-active team player who is genuinely passionate about building high performance teams and experienced in working in a multi-disciplined multi-cultural environment.
