Overview
Whānau Āwhina Plunket is the largest service in Aotearoa supporting tamariki under-five and their whānau. As well as clinical support, we connect caregivers with services that support holistic health and wellbeing and access to helpful services to form meaningful connections. This role supports the Christchurch East communities in a hybrid arrangement.
This is a 32 hour per week role, ideally Monday to Thursday (8-hour days). We can consider your needs in line with the role.
Responsibilities
* Gather insights internally and externally about existing services to identify opportunities in the community.
* Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
* Raise the profile of Whānau Āwhina Plunket at relevant community events.
* Recruit, onboard and communicate with volunteers who run groups, provide in-home support and other initiatives.
A key organisational goal is to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and improve access to our services for priority communities—Māori, Pacific peoples, young parents, children in state care, rainbow whānau and those living rurally. You’ll work with the Community Services Manager to ensure we are where we are needed most.
An example of ongoing collaboration includes linking our car seat tech teams with Pasifika Mama playgroups to provide specialist support and installation advice.
Working with volunteers and attending events may require weekend work from time to time.
About you
At the centre of this role is people—you’ll network internally and externally and be a professional representative of the organisation. A fair level of computer literacy is needed to post and engage with whānau on our local social media pages and to promote volunteer opportunities.
Experience in the community is advantageous, but the key is asking the right questions to understand the journey and services needed by parents and caregivers, with drive to turn insights into action. Ideally you will be well-networked across the region and able to hit the ground running with ideas to move us forward.
