Practice Educator Intensive Care - Band 6
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Nurse Educator to support the ongoing education and professional development of our nursing team, including Registered Nurses, Nursing Associates, Student Nurses, and Healthcare Support Workers. Working closely with the Band 7 Lead Nurse Educator, this role plays a vital part in shaping the future of nursing within our critical care environment. You will be actively involved in bedside care, role modelling best practices, and delivering high-quality education and training programmes tailored to the needs of critical care. This includes supporting nurses through their CC3N National Competencies and the Adult Critical Care Course, ensuring alignment with GPICS standards. The role also includes leadership and management responsibilities, offering opportunities to influence practice across the wider Network. A key aspect of the position involves collaboration with Higher Education Institutions to enhance learning pathways and support career progression.
Nurse Educator Responsibilities
* To contribute to and assist the Band 7 Lead Nurse Educator
* To contribute to and assist in the building and sustenance of a learning culture.
* To support “learning through doing” as well as training and education away from the bedside through structured programmes
* To contribute to the induction process for staff newly appointed
* To ensure staff have undertaken relevant training and competent in the use of all equipment within the clinical area.
* To assure that staff undertaking training, education and development are supported in working to meeting set standards of performance
* To assist with the appropriate allocation of supervisors / mentors for the induction period in consultation with colleagues in the Band 7 team.
* To provide continuing support to both newly appointed members of staff and the supervisor / mentor during the support process.
* To assist with the process of goal setting during the induction process and beyond to ensure the effective development of staff.
* To be responsible for the regular review and evaluation of the induction process to ensure an effective system is in place.
* To maintain effective, complete and accurate documentation required for organisational development and skills training.
