We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Garth, a Category B male prison in Leyland. The prison houses around 1500 men with a variety of health needs and within this role, you’ll play an integral part in providing exceptional care for our patients.

This is a rare opportunity to join our close knit Pharmacy team, where you will join a unique working environment, where no two days are the same!

We are looking for an experienced Dispenser with their NVQ Level 2, and this role offers lots of opportunities for training and further development!


Hours

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, 08:00 - 16:00, Monday to Friday.


Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £25,557 - £29,723 per annum- depending on experience.


How will we support you?

* Acting as medication second checker (including controlled drugs)
* Assist with medication and stock management
* Ordering and receiving medication
* Support the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team
* Label and dispense medications, and prepare prescriptions
* Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
* Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.


What you'll be doing

As our new Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

Our New Pharmacy Dispenser Will Have:

* An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing
* Knowledge of medications
* Experience within a pharmacy environment - whether in the community, hospital or a prison / secure setting
