CYP-PT Therapy Trainee [Parent Training] – NHS England funded programme in partnership with The Anna Freud Centre, University College London, and Kings College London. The post-holder will train on the CYP-PT Trainee Therapy Course and carry out clinical work to complement their studies, providing evidence-based interventions for children, young people or families. The role supports working with people from diverse backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary, and is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities
Main duties of the job include the training year funded by NHSE. After successful completion the fixed-term training contract ends, with encouragement to apply for vacant posts within the service and support for job applications. The role balances a busy work and study schedule; you will be an employee of the service and enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. You will study and perform at an academic level, with protected study time typically two days a week during term, and a mix of in-person and online sessions. You may need to travel to London for lectures and the clinic in Harrow.
This full-time training begins January 2026, with approximately half a week for academic work and half a week at the service seeing clients related to training assignments. Trainees are employees of the service and enrolled students with KCL/Anna Freud. Upon completion, qualified trainees receive a KCL Postgraduate Diploma.

Qualifications
Essential
 * Postgraduate diploma level academic capability or evidence of equivalent ability
 * Training in a mental-health related profession (e.g., psychology, nursing, health visiting; social-work, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychiatry, counselling, etc.)
Knowledge
 * Appreciation of working with parents to address child behavioural problems; safeguarding knowledge
Experience
 * Two years professional experience working with children with behavioural problems and their families
 * Experience with safeguarding issues
 * Experience of multi-agency working
Other
 * Able to travel to meet post requirements; strong teamwork and mentoring skills
Skills & Abilities
 * Effective and sensitive communication with families, children and professionals
 * Adaptable communication style; ability to reflect on practice; time management
 * Ability to follow policy and propose changes; maintain accurate records
 * Capability to complete postgraduate diploma studies (IELTS or equivalent for non-native speakers, BAND D)
