Healthcare Assistant – HMP Winchester
We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Winchester, a category B prison located in Winchester.
HMP Winchester is a busy remand prison with a capacity of around 658 males. The role supports the wider healthcare team with tasks such as observations, managing minor injuries and health screenings. Free parking is available, and the prison is close to the town centre with public transport links.
Hours and Salary
Hours: Monday to Sunday on a rota basis, 37.5 hours per week, 07:30 – 21:00.
Salary: Full time, annual salary up to £30,684 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Requirements

Responsibilities
* Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care.
* Develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications Required
* NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
* Non-judgmental and compassionate approach
* Excellent communication skills
* Good IT skills and IT literacy
* Ability to work within a busy environment
* Ability to work unsupervised while following policy and procedures
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
