Job Summary
A Senior Bookkeeper with Payroll experience required to join a rapidly expanding accountancy practice. The role will own end-to-end bookkeeping and payroll services for multiple businesses, allowing flexibility for full-time or part-time engagement with hybrid working options.
Responsibilities
* Manage the full bookkeeping cycle for multiple businesses, from day‑to‑day data entry to year‑end preparation.
* Perform thorough bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations and maintain control accounts.
* Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns in line with statutory and practice guidelines.
* Create precise bookkeeping records suitable for management reporting and year‑end accounts.
* Run monthly payroll for approximately 6 clients using software such as BrightPay and Xero.
* Prioritise and balance workloads across multiple clients, ensuring all external deadlines are met.
* Collaborate with the wider team to support departmental goals and uphold high professional standards.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of dedicated bookkeeping experience.
* Minimum 3 years of payroll experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of cloud bookkeeping systems, with Xero experience a distinct advantage.
* Proven ability to manage accounts and workloads for multiple businesses simultaneously.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills, commitment to accuracy, quality, and teamwork.
* Valid United Kingdom work authorisation and fluency in English.
* Comfortable commuting to the Nuneaton office (initially office‑based during probation and at least one day per week thereafter).
