The Machine Shop Manager is a key member of the operational leadership team and responsible for leading a team of machinists (CNC, Milling, Lathe, Sawing, etc.) Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrate high level of expertise in machining and manufacturing processes, in particular sawing/cutting, CNC milling, lathe machines, EDM Ensure departments and team members are working in line with quality requirements and procedures, supporting audits and finding resolution where required. Ability to read and produce technical drawing specifications. Provide input to operational planning activities and ensure agreed turnaround times are achieved. Strong focus on On Time Delivery (OTD) to achieve bottom line results. Accountable for controlling spend within the department by working with suppliers to achieve the best price possible. Regular review of processes to minimize wastage of consumables. Qualifications/Education and/or Experience: Preferred bachelor’s degree (BA, BSc, BEng) and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and use of data driven actions. Working knowledge of workshop safety, management, processes preferable. Ability to read and create technical drawing specifications. Experience as a time served machinist (or equivalent hands-on work experience) in a similar work environment. Must be a proven leader within a relevant discipline and a quick learner who is adaptive to and embraces change .
