Job Description for Senior Process Engineer:

As part of our multi-discipline Engineering team, you’ll work across multiple sites with a wide variety of projects, and have the opportunity to drive them through to delivery. We’re looking for a versatile and experienced Senior Process Engineer who can take projects from initial specification through to delivery of an operational asset, managing all Process Engineering design elements throughout. You should be self-motivated and a team player keen to grow as part of an integrated team. Travel between UKNNL sites and customer locations may be required. The role can be based at Preston or Risley.
Main Responsibilities for Senior Process Engineer
* Taking the lead in developing Process Engineering designs to national and international standards as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
* Authoring and checking calculations, engineering drawings, technical reports and design memos to support the design.
* Collaborating with project/program managers to ensure work is delivered to meet time, cost, quality and safety requirements.
* Working with the procurement team to define procurement requirements for engineering projects and collaborating with suppliers to deliver successful project outcomes.
* Supporting the commissioning of your designs.
* Supporting active plant areas with troubleshooting and problem solving.
* Designing safe plants in line with safety standards such as BS EN 61508, BS EN 60079 and BS EN 4126.
* Mentoring junior engineers and guiding their design activities.
* Working with the Process Engineering Discipline Lead to identify and develop business improvements.
* Engaging in the employee development programme to support technical and behavioural growth.
Essential Criteria for Senior Process Engineer
* Chartered Engineer.
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related subject and relevant experience.
* Experience in developing process plant design deliverables in a highly regulated industry.
* Experience of the HAZOP process.
* Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, quality and environmental requirements relating to engineering design projects.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey difficult concepts clearly to customers, regulators and stakeholders.
* Evidence of problem solving and solution-focused thinking.
* Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (includes identity, employment, financial and criminal checks plus 5 years’ UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for Senior Process Engineer
* Experience in the nuclear sector.
