Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Salary: £35,000
Working Pattern: Fully Office Based (5 Days per Week)
Reporting To: Head of Finance

Robert Half is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing business in Royston for an Assistant Management Accountant. This hands-on role supports the Head of Finance and offers exposure to management accounts, multi-currency reporting, and day-to-day finance operations. You will also have regular interaction with the Managing Director and the US parent company, with opportunities for career progression.

The Role

As Assistant Management Accountant based in Royston, you will support the Head of Finance in the day-to-day running of the finance function. The role is varied and requires someone comfortable working across transactional finance, reporting, reconciliations, and financial administration.

You will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly reporting, and ensuring financial processes run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with monthly management accounts
2. Process receipts, payments, and reconciliations
3. Manage sales and purchase invoicing
4. Support credit control and chase outstanding debt
5. Assist with cash flow monitoring
6. Prepare audit files and support the annual audit
7. Produce royalty reports
8. Support Amazon reporting and reconciliations
9. Perform multi-currency reconciliations
10. Assist with VAT returns (UK & Ireland)
11. Provide ad hoc financial support to the Head of Finance

Key Requirements

Experience in an Assistant Management Accountant or similar finance role
Experience supporting management accounts preparation

Strong working knowledge of:

Receipts and payments
Sales and purchase invoicing
Credit control
Experience preparing audit documentation
Exposure to multi-currency reconciliations
Experience assisting with VAT returns
Strong IT and financial systems skills
Experience with Pegasus Opera is an advantage, not essential
Experience with royalty reporting or Amazon reporting is beneficial
Invoice discounting experience desirable but not essential

12. Must be highly organised with strong attention to detail.
13. Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced finance environment.
14. Must live within 15 miles of Royston and hold a valid driving licence.
