Job Title: BookkeeperLocation: Manchester Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum (DOE)37 hours per week, Permanent, Full-timeWorking Pattern: Fully office-based initially (1 day working from home after probation)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bookkeeper to join a fast-paced, growing fashion design business based in Manchester, near Victoria Station. This is a hands-on, varied role combining finance management with office administration, offering real responsibility within a long-established, family-owned company that works with well-known UK retailers and promotes a dynamic, collaborative working culture. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with external accountants.
Key Responsibilities:Manage sales ledger, purchase ledger, and credit controlRaise, match, and reconcile invoices and overheadsComplete bank, balance sheet, and credit card reconciliationsProcess payroll for less than 25 staffManage weekly and monthly supplier payment runsDevelop and maintain cashflow forecasts and budgetsProduce weekly and monthly financial reportsReview costs and expenditure, identifying efficienciesSupport preparing monthly management accounts in collaboration with the external accountantAct as the main point of all office administrationContact for HMRC and other external bodiesSupport financial reporting for a small property portfolio, including rental reports and meter readingsManage general office administration and act as a central point of contactProvide basic HR administration support for new starters and personnel recordsOversee Health & Safety procedures, utilities, and office securityLiaise with suppliers, customers, and third-party service providersAssist with general enquiries and day-to-day office coordination
About You:
AAT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experienceStrong all-round bookkeeping / accounts assistant experienceConfidence managing accounts independentlyComfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing prioritiesAble to work under pressure and manage sudden changes effectivelyPositive, proactive, and hands-on with a "can-do" attitudeStrong Excel skills and using accounting systems (Xero, Opera Pegasus advantageous)Import background or similar advantageous but not essentialOrganised, adaptable, and confident working autonomously
